LIVE:
Jazz nas Ruínas @ Parque das Ruínas (Santa Teresa) – Come to one of the most beautiful spots in Santa Teresa to enjoy some superb live jazz hosted in the neighborhood’s unique Parque das Ruínas.

You’ll hear the sounds of São Paulo outfit Superjazz, who specialize in contemporary reinterpretations of classic jazz standards blended with some Brazilian music for good measure. Plus, there’ll also be a chance to get down to the extensive record collection of their collaborator DJ Mr. Rabbit, who will play in the intervals.

The evening begins at 6 PM, and tickets are between R$15-R$25.

Funk’in @ Teatro Odisséia (Lapa) – Come to Teatro Odisséia’s funk-fest and throw down your best moves to the all the latest carioca funk, hip-hop, trap, and much more.

The talented crew of DJ Flash, Consciência, and Matheus Castro will have you dancing in no time.

This event begins at 8 PM, plus it’s free, provided you get your name on the event wall, with tickets provided on a first come, first serve basis.

DRINKS:
Downtown Beer Festival 2019 @ DowntownRJ (Barra da Tijuca) – Beer lovers rejoice as from May 16th to 19th it’s the fifth Downtown Beer Festival and this year’s theme is ‘Cervejas Cariocas.’

In addition to plenty of beers on tap, in bottles, and cans, you can fill up on the best street food in Rio, catch some live shows and have plenty more fun at this special four-day event.

Entry is free, and the event starts at noon.

LOUNGES, BARS & PUBS:

Mississippi Delta Blues Bar (Gamboa)
As the name would suggest, this is the place to go in Rio for live American-style blues music. Coupled with a Soul Food-inspired menu (their mac’n’cheese is excellent), plenty of bourbons, crafts beers, and a pool table, this place makes for an atmospheric hangout, whether there’s a band playing (and there usually is) or just the jukebox.

Symposium Bistro (Laranjeiras)
Run by Uruguayan expat José Hodara, the bistro offers the best national and international labels, which can be accompanied by a selection of cheeses, sausages or a main dishes, like the majestic Uruguayan chorizo beef.

Pub Escondido (Copacabana)
Those into the pub atmosphere will also love Pub Escondido, a discrete venue with premium beer labels, modern design, and a really cool vibe. The pub offers 24 different beer taps.
