RIO DE JANEIRO – English band Oasis has a lot of fans in Brazil, and they are coming back for their fourth time. They are going to perform on May 7th at Citibank Hall in Rio, in Barra da Tijuca.

The tour also includes concerts in São Paulo (May 9th), Curitiba (May 10th) and Porto Alegre (May 12th). On Thursday’s concert they will present their most recent album, “Dig Out Your Soul”, which has been praised by the critics all over the world.

Noel and Liam Gallagher’s fourth visit to the country is – as usual – surrounded by rumors and controversies. Much is being said about the brother’s eccentricities such as their demands for the backstage. They asked for five bottles of good red wine, three bottles of vodka, 24 cans of Guinness, 72 cans of “good quality beer” and one liter of milk – along with one package of cigarettes and five lighters.

Also, to keep up with the brother’s tradition of trouble-making, Noel has written an enigmatic and polemic post in his blog over, “Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere”. Over the weekend, he talked about “bad times for the Oasis tour”: “Bad times. We are a rudderless ship at the minute. I guess all will be revealed in due course. Strange atmosphere. I wouldn’t mind but we’re in South America! Playing massive stadiums and there’s a bit too much hrmph-ing going on for my liking. Shame really”. It’s left unclear if he is unhappy with the crowds attending their concerts, or just moaning out of habit.

Rio’s presentation will be broadcast live by the cable channel Multishow. The show starts at 9:30 PM. On the set list, songs from “Dig Out Your Soul”, such as The Shock of Lightning, Falling Down and their career hits like Wonderwall, Supersonic, Live Forever and Don’t Look Back in Anger.

It’s been 11 years since Oasis visited Brazil for the first time. After that, they have performed at the legendary event Rock in Rio (a rock festival that lasted 7 days), in 2001, and also in São Paulo, in 2006. However, this is the largest tour they have ever made in the country – and also in Latin America. They have already been to Peru, Chile and Argentina.
