Museums all Over the Country Hold Special Programs as of Today

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The 17th Museum Week will offer more than 3,000 attractions in museums all over Brazil, from Monday (13th) to Sunday (19th).

In all, there will be 3,222 events ranging from exhibitions and workshops to guided tours, debates and musical performances.

The current edition of the National Museum Week, organized annually by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), will feature the theme “Museums as Cultural Centres: the Future of Traditions.”

Several institutions will participate in São Paulo, among them the Pinacoteca de São Paulo in Parque da Luz, featuring educational visits to the exhibition of artist Ernesto Neto and also to the exhibition “Arte no Brasil: uma história na Pinacoteca de São Paulo” (Art in Brazil: a story in the São Paulo Pinacoteca).

The Museu Afro-Brasileiro at Ibirapuera Park will hold an educational initiative based on the techniques and themes of popular literature, presenting Afro-Brazilian stories and narratives. The Museu do Futebol at the Pacaembu Stadium will discuss the engagement of Brazilian clubs on social issues such as gender-based violence and racism within soccer.

The Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro’s Mauá Square conducts an educational activity aimed at discussing the territoriality of foods, reflections on regionalism and the meaning of tradition.

The Museu do Índio on Rua das Palmeiras in Flamengo, promotes a storytelling workshop under the theme “Listen, tell, read and see.

Myths, legends and tales, indigenous cultural reading practices and narratives”. It also offers a workshop on the Guarani language and culture, and another on documentation and preservation of indigenous languages.

The Museu Casa da Moeda do Brasil in Praça da República, offers an exhibition of its historical collection, and another on the Royal Charter.
