Significant Discovery at NX Gold Mine in Mato Grosso

By Contributing Reporter

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Ero Copper said it made a “significant discovery” at the NX gold mine in Mato Grosso. One of the survey results shows 19.38 grams of gold per tonne in three meters.

The NX Gold is a high-quality gold mine that produces approximately 40,000 ounces of gold and 25,000 ounces of silver per year.

The company, which controls Mineração Caraíba, holds 97.6 percent of NX, where six long-term exploration drills are currently operating.

“The new discovery, known as Santo Antônio, is a new mineralization area located between and in the Brás and Buracão shafts. To date, mineralization has been outlined in approximately 400 meters in length of mineralized layer and approximately 200 meters in depth and remains open in depth,” the mining company said in a statement released on Thursday (18th).

According to Ero, development in this new shaft has begun as the drill confirming the extent of mineralization remains in progress.

Production takes place within two adjacent mineralized quartz veins located along a northeastward trend of approximately 600 meters, known as Brás and Buracão, which are accessed through a single portal and ramp.

Since the end of 2018, exploration has been started to evaluate the downstream extensions of the veins, as well as to test the potential mineralization between Brás and Buracão.

From the beginning of the drilling activities, results from 43 holes were received, including a new eastward extension of the Brás shaft known as the Matinha area.
