RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Motor vehicle sales in Brazil climbed 12.2 percent year-on-year from January to April. According to figures made public by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distributors ( Fenabrave ) this Thursday, 1,244,151 units were sold year-to-date through April 2019.
The numbers include automobiles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and motorcycles. April saw 339,424 vehicles sold, up 9.08 percent from April 2018.
Fenabrave chairman Alarico Assumpção Júnior imputed positive April results to the fact it had two business days more than March, and to a gradual rebound in consumer confidence indicators.
“The market as a whole kept recovering at the same pace. Sales climbed 0.5% on average per day,” he said.
Year-to-date auto and light commercial vehicle sales reached 801,330 units, up 8.71 percent from a year ago. In April, the category saw 221,321 units sold, up 5.42 percent from a year ago.
