Rio Nightlife Guide for Thursday, May 2, 2019

The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
BomBástic Hits @ Pub Kriok (Lapa) – BomBástic sure is the right name. If you want to experience Lapa in all its decadent glory then what could be better than three floors and two dancefloors with all the hits from Brazilian funk to gringo pop and beyond.

If you need some help finding your rhythm then the free caipirinhas until midnight might do it, or the randomly distributed free vodka shots, or even the free popcorn.

The night gets going at 11 PM and costs R$20, or it’s free with your name on the event wall.

BomBástic Hits – Avenida Mem de Sá, 65 – Lapa

For more information, go to the event page.

DRINKS:
Expo Antítodo Antítudo @ Galpão Ladeira das Artes (Cosme Velho) – Come experience a most intriguing exhibition featuring the psychedelically mind-bending art of Alexandre Nitzsche coupled with ‘gastronomic art’ courtesy of chef and designer Mari Puttini.

Galpão Ladeira das Artes is also well worth checking out, an experimental art and performance center hidden away in the sleepy hills of Cosme Velho.

This free exhibition begins at 6 PM.

Expo Antítodo Antítudo – Rua Conselheiro Lampreia 225 – Cosme Velho

LIVE:
Jazz às Quintas @ Cazota (Lapa) – Come and enjoy some New Orleans-style big-band jazz every Thursday at the charming Cazota Bar in Lapa.

The band is led by expatriate British musician Tom Ashe, and the bar has polite and helpful staff and an excellent menu. This is a perfect way to start a night in Lapa or just spend a chilled-out Thursday enjoying some live music and South American barbecue.

The music starts at around 8:45 PM and there is an artistic cover charge of R$15.
