Feriado no Baixo (Vila Madalena) – A meeting point among São Paulo’s “cool” youth, Bar do Baixo will celebrate this Worker’s Day with plenty of samba and forró music.

Singer Jackie Carvalho will open the line-up with a lively “roda de samba”, while Turma do Funil will make the audience dance to the sound of traditional forró.

Discopedia (Bom Retiro) – Ready for the best black music party in São Paulo? Then go check Discopedia tonight!

Taking place in the amazing rooftop ABolha, this vinyl record party will be paying tribute to Miss Lauryn Hill tonight.

Apart from the talented Discopedia DJs, the party will also host “Nos Tempos de Soweto”, a DJs collective dedicated to Brazilian black music, and singer Janine Mathias.

Samba da Luz (Luz) – For live samba music in one of São Paulo’s most traditional regions, head to Samba da Luz this Friday.

Group Samba do Urso will be running the “roda de samba” at Casa da Luz, an art gallery next to the beautiful Luz metrô station. DJ David Carneiro plays during the breaks.

Make sure to arrive early: the event ends around 10 PM.
