We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Queen Tribute @ Rock Bar (Gávea) – This Thursday, Queen Tribute Brazil will be singing the biggest hits of these icons of rock. For those who do not know, Queen Tribute Brazil was Queen’s first cover band in Brazil and they’re still the best.

There will also be a ‘Happy Hour’ with Heineken two-for-one, Moscow Mules and Jack Daniel’s deals until 10PM. Soon after the show, DJ Careca will take over the decks to keep everyone dancing until the early morning.

This free event starts at 8PM.

PARTY:
Delícia de Verão @ Canastra Bar (Ipanema) – This summer, one of the most popular bars in Rio, Canastra, have decided to do something different. By teaming up with Amazzoni Gin they are combining the most delicious drinks and DJs of the city with weekly club nights right below their award-winning bar in the basement where it all started.

This week it’s the turn of Craig Ouar and Tee Cardaci to bring their hottest tracks to this incredibly popular event.

This is a free party which begins at 9PM.

PARTY:
Terra Blues Band @ Mississippi Delta Blues Bar RJ (Gamboa) – Terra Blues Band are bringing their show to Rio, directly influenced by classic blues rock bands like The Allman Brothers, Steve Ray Vaughan, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, Eric Clapton, BB. King, and many more.

They are a carioca band formed by Andre Tenenbaum (guitar), Gustavo Viana (bass and vocals) and Fernando Popovitch Carvalho (drums). There will also be a happy hour until 9PM, plus the pool table is available for R$15 per hour.

The bar opens at 7PM, the show should start at 9PM, and it’s R$15 artistic ‘couvert’ to get in.

Casa Momus (Lapa)
Run by two Italian expats, Momus’ interior design is already worth the experience. Among Momus’ highlights are its carefully prepared classic drinks, like the bloody mary (R$27), the pisco sour (R$28) and the negroni (R$28).

Originally inaugurated in Paris, the boutique hostel and bar offers the perfect environment for enjoying a drink and a snack in style – specially on Fridays and Saturdays, when DJs spin on the house.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the latest domestic and international sports. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
