We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Noir Masque @ Palaphita (Gávea) – This is the Carnival Edition of the most traditional Palaphita party, repeating the success of 2018 with its Masqué edition.

With the perfect mix of starry skies, fantastic views, and plenty of hip-hop, r’n’b, trap, house and funk courtesy of DJs Carol Emmerick, Bahruth, Ric Ruliere and Bê Malta. Plus, there will be an open bar of beer and vodka drinks until 11PM.

Tickets are available from R$30 and the night gets going at 9PM.

LIVE:
Samba da Maria @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – The Carnival season is going to begin at Circo Voador in style, with Maria Rita bringing her celebrated ‘Samba da Maria’ for the first time to the Circo stage.

The project, which has been touring several cities in Brazil and the world, spans the repertoire of the singer with songs such as ‘Tá Perdoado,’ ‘Maltratar Não é Direito’ and ‘Corpo Só,’ as well as some immortal classics of Brazilian music, such as Jorge Aragão’s ‘Vou Festejar,’ ‘Coisa de Pele,’ and ‘Lucidez,’ Gonzaguinha’s ‘É,’ and ‘O Homem Falou,’ Benito di Paula’s ‘Retalhos de Cetim’ and Arlindo Cruz’s ‘O Meu Lugar.’ While before and after the show, DJ Ju de Paulla will be making sure the dancefloor is pumping from early until late.

Tickets are from R$50-R$140 and the night gets going at 10PM.

PARTY:
RaggaBloco @ AquaRio (Centro) – RaggaBrass is a fanfare of reggaeton-inspired dance rhythms, and tonight they are bringing all that high energy to their very own Carnival bloco.

They will be playing a lot of pop, funk, techno and axé, in a procession that encourages people to wear plenty of gold, silver and things that shine like stars in a constellation.

This event will begin at 10PM and is free!

Casa Momus (Lapa)
Run by two Italian expats, Momus’ interior design is already worth the experience. Among Momus’ highlights are its carefully prepared classic drinks, like the bloody mary (R$27), the pisco sour (R$28) and the negroni (R$28).

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the latest domestic and international sports. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
