PARTY:
Rio Underground Seaside Edition @ Secret Location (?) – Rio Underground is back with another stellar line-up for an open and free Carnival party. This time it will take place by the seaside in a secret location – to be revealed at 6PM tonight.

Featuring international DJ, producer and radio host Menja Mist who joins the crew directly from Amsterdam, the night will also include sets from Rio Underground staples such as Luah Melo, Alexiz BCX, Vitin, Angelo Perim, Erikka, and Australian DJ WLHM.

This night is free and is expected to start at around 8PM, with the location being revealed at 6PM.

PARTY:
Iemanjá Carioca @ Manouche (Jardim Botanico) – This Saturday, February 2nd is Iemanjá Day for the Afro-Brazilian religions of Brazil. Therefore DJ MAM is organizing a special edition of his party-show dedicated to Brazilian music.

The intimate dance floor of Manouche, located in the basement of Casa Camolese, in Rio’s picturesque Jardim Botanico neighborhood, will host an event that celebrates one of the most beloved goddesses in Brazil and will also be the stage for the release of a new remix of the track “Iemanjá Carioca”, composed by MAM. The night will also feature many other DJs and artists taking to the stage, plus projections by VJ Ratón and the special participation of Cuban musician Rene Ferrer.

The night starts at 10PM and tickets are available from R$15.

PARTY:
Arrasta @ Street Lapa (Lapa) – With a tag-line that says, ‘Vem amor, bebe não para!’ (Come, my love, drinking doesn’t stop!) this party is one for those looking for some early Carnival spirit to inject into their weekend.

Featuring the biggest open bar in Lapa, which will be open for six hours, plus plenty of funk, 150 bpm, hip-hop, pop, reggaeton, sertanejo and plenty of other Brazilian classics, this is one unmissable summer party.

Tickets are R$35 and the night gets going at 11PM.

LOUNGES, BARS & PUBS:

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Void/House of Food (Botafogo)
Blending culinary, drinks and fashion, the bar/store invites a different chef to prepare a new menu every week. Besides great imported beer labels, it usually serves delicious veggie food and homemade burgers.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Canastra Bar (Ipanema)
The Canastra Wine Bar in Ipanema offers a great selection of wines and cheeses and is quickly becoming known for its nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
