We have the top three picks for this Friday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Gal Costa @ Vivo Rio (Glória) – Gal Costa is playing live tonight in support of her new album ‘A Pele do Futuro’ (The Skin of the Future)

On stage, the singer presents new songs from the new album, written by Gilberto Gil, Djavan, Adriana Calcanhotto, Nando Reis, Jorge Mautner and Marilia Mendonça, among others. She will also be performing new versions of her biggest hits, such as ‘Seu Estupidez,’ ‘Oração de Mãe Menininha’ and ‘Festa do Interior.’

Tickets are between R$100 – R$240 and the performance begins at 10PM.

PARTY:
Matriz Open Bar @ Casa da Matriz (Botafogo) – This is the twelfth edition of one of the most popular parties at Casa da Matriz: MOB (Matriz Open Bar) will include heineken, gin and tonics, caipirinhas, caipivodkas, soft drinks and water available all night long.

Plus, there are 50 liters of artisan chopp beer.

The musical lineup includes two parties on two different dancefloors. On the first dancefloor, DJ Iggor Arehnds will be playing all the best rock, pop-rock, indie and punk for people to dance to the soundtrack of their teenage years. On the second dancefloor will be DJ Lali Moss and DJ Luana Paiva, who will be playing a mix of pop, hip-hop, r’n’b, and baile funk.

Tickets are between R$40 – R$80 and the night gets going at 11PM.

LIVE:
Rock 80 Festival Barra @ Avenida Paulo Goulart (Barra da Tijuca) – Rock 80 Festival begins this Friday with a tribute to the biggest hits of the eighties from both domestic and international artists. There will be fourteen concerts in three days with more than thirty hours of music, plus plenty of beer and food trucks, and even a children’s play area.
With lots of beer and gastronomy.

The line up for Friday is Ana Egypt, who is on at 6PM, ‘The Wall’ tribute to Pink Floyd at 8PM, and Sollarium at 10PM.

The festival begins at 5PM and is free entry with 2kg of non-perishable food, or R$10.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Void/House of Food (Botafogo)
Blending culinary, drinks and fashion, the bar/store invites a different chef to prepare a new menu every week. Besides great imported beer labels, it usually serves delicious veggie food and homemade burgers.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Canastra Bar (Ipanema)
The Canastra Wine Bar in Ipanema offers a great selection of wines and cheeses and is quickly becoming known for its nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
