We have the top three picks for this Friday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Dia de Los Muertos @ Bar Bukowski (Botafogo) – The Day of Los Muertos is a special date where the dead are allowed to visit their loved ones! And Bar Bukowski are putting on a night of undead fun for everyone.

It’s a very festive day, with lots of Mexican colors and of course, lots of drinking involved! So, influenced by tequila and all the charms of Mexico, Bukowski will celebrate life and death, with a lot of rock ‘n’ roll and a memorable soundtrack!

In addition, there will be two-for-ones on sex on the beach until midnight, plus make-up artists on-site who are ready to turn everyone into real Mexican skulls. Whoever comes on Thursday or Friday gets Saturday’s entry on the house.

Tickets are between R$35-R$55 and the night begins at 9PM.

LIVE:
Baile Afro-Latino de Los Muertos @ Bar do Nanam (Centro) – Cultures around the world have traditions that consider this date a special day, with many parties, food, drinks, prayers and souvenirs offered for those who made the crossing from life into death. It will not be different here, with many happy people gathering together on the street to dance, drink, talk, remember and have the strength to continue fighting the threats of the future. This is an evening to be merry!

The Baile Afro-Latino de Los Muertos will play a lot of African music, latin, tropical, tribal, traditional and futurist music, all at the same time on the street to get everyone entangled in a single good vibe. The line up includes: DJ HanDom, and the bands Maracatu and Carimbó.

The night gets started at 10:20PM and it is free to attend, thought they ask you to buy your drinks from Bar do Nanam and contribute to the musicians’ hat when it is passed around.

PARTY:
Sexta, Doce ou Travessura @ MAM Rio (Flamengo) – One last Halloween party courtesy of MAM (Museum of Modern Art). This will be a great gathering, a reason for people to get together, have fun and enjoy the night.

So the question is, trick or treat? A super party, with so much decorations. This year they are transforming the Museum of Modern Art into a haunted, gloomy and scary museum with monsters, antics, super decoration, lots of joy and beautiful playing the finest pagodinho, axé da baêa with the Vira Lata Carnaval bloco and the biggest sertanejo bloco in the world with João Lucas and Matheus. Also, expect the very best house, deep house, dance and funk courtesy of DJ Gabriel Cézar.

Tickets are available from R$70 and the night gets going at 7PM.

Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is always a great place for Mexican food, drinks and for watching live sport streams and broadcasts. Just around the corner from Posto 9, the bar is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and crowd which frequents the establishment. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
