The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Saturday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Samba do Teles @ Arco do Teles (Centro) – It’s samba on the street, with live music, an improvised dancefloor, great Djs in the intervals, and it’s free! It can only be Samba do Teles.

On Saturday, October 27th, there will be one of the most popular samba groups in the entire city: Samba Que Ela Querem, a group organized by women musicians that aim to give a voice that represents the great females of samba. Even better still, after the samba, there will be live forró with the band Forró Maravilhas and Baile do Teles, with DJ Nicolle Neumann, making sure that no-one will want to leave until the morning light.

This is a free event, but the organizers ask that those attending to help keep this project going by helping with the voluntary contribution to the musicians’ hat and also by consuming at the bar of the event which offers affordable and promotional prices. It usually gets going at around 7PM.

PARTY:
The Purge Party @ Teatro Odisséia (Lapa) – This looks set to be one of the biggest Halloween parties in the city. Come dressed up and prepare yourself for a night of fun and surprises.

Attractions include random shots being distributed each time the lights go out; posters with politicians, public figures and artists for you to deface as you please; jelloblood shots for all in attendance; gifts; a painting stand and more!

On the first dancefloor will be DJs Mari Medeiros, Ian Garcez and Marcus Garcia aka Lupine pumping out the best pop, funk, hip-hop, hits and electro. On the second dancefloor will be Iggor Ahrends and Rafael Feijo playing the most rocking emo, pop rock, indie and other alternative hits.

Tickets are between R$15-R$60 and the night gets going at 11PM.

LIVE:
Samba Do Leblon @ Rayz (Ipanema) – The Samba Quartet of Leblon will be playing a special show at Rayz of Ipanema.

An excellent and cozy bar with quality samba and wonderful food and drink options on the menu (look out for the cashew caipirinha and the burgers which are almost too good to be true!)

Enjoy the post-beach climate with football on the screen, friendly people in attendance – bring your family or a group of friends. Everyone is welcome.

The samba will take its lead from the greats, such as Martinho, J.Aragão, Cartola, Candeia, Zeca and many more. This is an excellent option for your Saturday afternoon/evening to get your fill of great live samba and excellent food to boot!

The artistic cover charge is R$10 and there is an offer of two-for-one chopp beer from 5PM-6PM. The night gets going at 5PM also.
