Rio Nightlife Guide for Saturday, October 6, 2018

The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Saturday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Vance Joy @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – Vance Joy presents his second album “Nation of Two,” by performing at Circo Voador this Saturday.

When releasing the single ‘Riptide’ in 2013, Vance Joy was quickly considered a promising name for the new world folk scene, which followed the success of bands like Mumford & Sons. The following year, his debut album, “Dream Your Life Away”, confirmed the good impression and led him to tour the world beyond Australia, with solo shows, festivals (he was at Lollapalooza Brazil 2017) and opening shows for Taylor Swift.

With the success and constant touring, the second album took four years to complete. The new song crop, however, has been known to the public since last year’s ‘Lay It On Me,’ ‘Like Gold,’ ‘We’re Going Home,’ and ‘Setting Sun.’ He should be playing these new hits as well as fan favorites.

Tickets are between R$130-R$260 and the night gets going at 9PM.

PARTY:
Democracia & Ousadia! @ Teatro Odisseia (Lapa) – One of the craziest parties in Rio, with their usual motto of ‘Ousadia & Alegria’ (Daring & Joy) is changing slighting on this eve of elections, with a new motto: ‘Democracia & Ousadia!’ (Democracy & Daring!)

If you’ve had enough of political fighting, here is the place to drink, dance and have some fun. There’ll be plenty of funk, pop, hip-hop, sertanejo, pagode, reggaeton, and much more! There are colored stickers distributed for those looking for a Saturday romance, with red for kisses only girls, blue for kisses only boys, green for both, and pink for those who just want to dance!

DJing will be Thjago Cortez (To Morro Land), Carol Stambowsk (FunkPalooza), and Breno Hitch (Sarrafunk).

Tickets are between R$20-R$70 and the night gets going at 11PM.

After their second album tour, they’re back for one more show. Arnaldo Antunes, Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown will be playing all the hits from their first and second Tribalistas albums, including songs such as ‘Velha Infância’ and ‘Já Sei Namorar.’

Tickets are between R$40-R$180 and the event begins at 8PM.
