We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Carlos Malta @ Audio Rebel (Botafogo) – One of the leading names in Brazilian instrumental music pays tribute to Elis Regina in a unique performance at Botafogo’s Audio Rebel.

Carlos Malta will be performing his show ‘Pimenta’ for the first time in Rio. Pimenta is a playful, poetic and jazzy re-interpretation of the repertoire recorded and eternalized by Elis Regina.

As one of the leading exponents of woodwind in Brazil, Malta has already shared a stage with names such as Bob McFerry, Dave Matthews Band, Michel Legrand, Chucho Valdéz, Roberto Carlos, Caetano Veloso and Edu Lobo.

Known as “The Sculptor of the Wind”, Carlos Malta is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, orchestrator and educator. For this performance he will be joined by Cliff Korman (piano), Augusto Mattoso (acoustic bass) and Renato Massa (drums). Carlos Malta will alternate between different saxophones and flutes.

Prior to the show, at 3pm, Malta will offer a free masterclass focused on wind instruments. Those interested should sign up at the facebook event as vacancies are limited.

The show starts at 8PM and tickets are available from R$10.
