The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Sunday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Laura, de Fabricio Moser @ Sala Municipal Baden Powell (Copacabana) – Creation of the actor and director Fabricio Moser, the autobiographical solo show ‘Laura’ returns to the circuit in August, at the Sala Municipal Baden Powell in Copacabana.

The play (which debuted in 2015 and has since been held in Rio, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte as well as other cities around Brazil) is part of an inventory of objects, souvenirs and family photographs, interviews and video records, archives and real objects.

Laura, the title character of the play, was killed in 1982 in the middle of the street in Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, for a love affair with Candoca, who then committed suicide. Fabricio, her grandson, was born in 1981 in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, nine months old at the time of the tragedy.

Residing in Rio de Janeiro since 2009 and after the death of his parents in a tragic accident in 2014, Fabricio Moser decided to create the autobiographical piece, which has been lauded by critics and audiences alike.

Tickets are from R$20-R$40 and the show starts at 7PM. It is running until August 27th.

LIVE:
Five Minutes of Rain & Banda Cobber @ Calabouço (Tijuca) – Calabouço invites everyone on Sunday for a night of rock ‘n’ roll. The great hits and classics of rock and pop both Brazilian and international will be played at high volume by Five Minutes of Rain.

And as an opening to this great night of rock, the fantastic Banda Cobber will also be turning up the volume and cranking out some rocking tunes for you.

The promotions of the day are a bucket of long neck Budweiser or Stella Artois and a double shot of Tequila and Jagermeister all night.

Five Minutes of Rain & Banda Cobber – Rua Felipe Camarão, 130 – Tijuca

DRINKS:
A Ressaca @ Macaco Caolho (Copacabana) – The fourth and last of the four days of partying that have celebrated the one year anniversary of the Macaco Caolho (One-Eyed Monkey) Irish pub.

After three days of partying, without sleep and without a pause, the Monkey calls you to the Sunday “light” party. Perhaps ‘soiree’ is more the word to use.

Thiago Peguet will be playing live. Expect plenty of Beatles covers.

There is still a free welcome shot for those who want more.

Plus prizes for those who still haven’t won.

Heineken long necks will be on offer all night for R$6 and there is fifty percent off of all hamburgers.

What a way to cure a Sunday ‘ressaca’ (hangover)!

A Ressaca – Avenida Atlântica 3056 B – Copacabana
