Rio Nightlife Guide for Sunday, July 8, 2018

The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Sunday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
After-Blocos @ Terraço Lagoa (Lagoa) – This party promises to bring all the best bits of Carnival back to Rio de Janeiro at this out-of-season time.

There will be samba blocos from Samba de Santa Clara and Fica Comigo (Stay with Me). The Parade of Santa Clara begins at 11PM, and Fica Comigo (Stay with Me) ends promptly at 4PM.

For the first time, these ultra-pumping and incomparable After-Blocos will take place during the World Cup, while facing the beautiful Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, one of the most glorious locations in all of Rio.

At 4PM sharp, they will turn off the sound of the blocos and will leave for a premium open bar that lasts until 5PM followed by a rooftop party to the sound of DJs Nepal, Just Mike, Mary Lou and Diana Bouth, and then there will be a samba show featuring Samba de Santa Clara and Fica Comigo (Stay with Me).

Tickets are selling fast at R$110. The show starts at 3PM and is expected to last well into Monday morning.

After-Blocos – Av. Borges de Medeiros 1424 – Lagoa

LIVE:
Niall Horan @ Km de Vantagens Hall (Barra) – Ex-One Direction singer Niall Horan is the second member of the biggest boyband in the world to visit Rio this year.

Niall Horan returns to the Cidade Maravilhosa after his sell-out show last October, touring his 2017 album Flicker.

Expect plenty of hits from this well-received solo album, as well as a couple of One Directions songs and even a few surprises. No doubt this will be a huge hit with his fanbase, who have been clamoring for another One Direction member to visit the city since Harry Styles earlier this year.

Tickets are between R$90-R$420 and doors open at 7:40PM.

Niall Horan – Avenida Ayrton Senna, 3000 – Barra

LIVE:
Pássaro Vadio @ Audio Rebel (Botafogo) – Pássaro Vadio was founded in 2015 by musician and composer Ramiro (vocals and guitar) and features Jojô (bass, guitar and keyboard) and Davi Neves (drums and percussion).

It is unique project that combines genres, walking through folkloric rhythms of Brazilian music, combined with ethereal textures of dream-pop and psychedelic folk. His own compositions mix influences from different times and places and have been compared to Caetano Veloso, Devendra Banhart, Fela Kuti, Tame Impala and Tom Jobim.

This show from the São Paulo group presents in full their debut album, Caosmos, which was singled out by the music press as one of the great albums of Brazil in 2017.

Tickets are R$20 (cash only) and the show starts at 10PM.

Pássaro Vadio – Visconde de Silva, 55 – Botafogo
