“A Cura” (The Heal), one of Machado’s photos, will be exhibited at Parque das Ruínas until April 1st, photo by Aline Machado.

With curatorship of Michele Pucarelli, the project aims to portray the female empowerment and liberation. Inspired by real stories, Machado’s work also explores the psychological aspect of the female transformation.

“The discourses and the theories of all of what feminism proposes since the 1960s reverberate in different ways; sometimes we cannot hear it, sometimes it is so loud that we need to get back to the past to remind all the steps taken so far,” affirms Pucarelli.

In “Religare”, Aline Machado presents a perspective through which women can overcome the odds, where barriers can be surpassed, and where the female body gets fulfilled by self confidence, inspiring the spectators to go through the same process.

As stated by Pucarelli, through the exhibit, we can rethink about diverse issues concerning women, like family, domestic work, children, work division and sexuality.

According to the artist, even though women have increasingly been raising their voices against sexism and feminicide, “Religare” is also a shout out against the still existing challenges women face to conquer their social rights in society.

“We still need to fight for basic rights for our bodies and our freedom, the struggle to live as a woman still exists. On the other hand, it is necessary that more women get conscious about their creative strength and their power of transforming themselves, rescuing their essence,” explains Machado.
