Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Three French expatriates in Rio opened Canastra in Ipanema years ago with a simple formula, lots of casual outdoor seating, delicious yet affordable wines, and quality fresh bread and imported cheeses to snack on.
The recipe has been a huge success and on Tuesdays they offer a fresh oysters festival, a dozen for R$40, which brings in a big crowd every week. Come early though, because they close at 1AM.

Party organizers Team Dobradinha promise: twins only pay one entrance, double dose of Jagermeister, promotions on Caipirinhas and Heineken Promotion and DJs playing the hits of all the styles. This undergroung club starts late and heaves until the early morning hours.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Located just around the corner from Posto 9, Blue Agave in Ipanema is well known for great Mexican food, drinks and for broadcasting live sports. Additionally, most of the wait staff and crowd speak English.

Lord Jim’s Pub (Ipanema)
Lord Jim’s Pub is the oldest pub in Rio and its well known for live music and promotional specials. During Happy Hours (6PM to 8PM) on Mondays through Fridays, the pub offers two for one draft beer. This is also a great place to watch live sports.
