Monday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – After an epic New Year’s Eve most likely everyone is nursing a hangover, but with the sun shining there is really no better option than hitting the beach, and there is no better beach-side bar than the Blue Agave in Ipanema.
The open air local is a great place for tasty Mexican food, cold drinks and watching live sports. It also has English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout. The Pavarotti of Samba leads a samba “over dose” with a three-hour samba show that combines the impact of Rixxa’s voice with the rhythmic beat of the samba schools. The roda de samba shakes Lapa with great percussionists, in a joint of Zeca Pagodinho’s band, portraying the rehearsals of the samba schools.
