Olho da Rua Bazaar Brings Together Designers and Tattoo Artists in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Saturday, March 11th, collective art space Olho da Rua will hold its own bazaar, bringing together a collection of artists, designers and chefs. But this edition will also feature three tattoo artists from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in addition to the Botafogo-based collective’s usual fare.

Beginning from 5PM on Saturday, the event suggests a voluntary contribution of between R$5 and R$20 to support the collective and its featured artists.

This edition of the event will celebrate urban arts in particular, featuring work from street artists and also hosting three tattoo artists for the evening: Pedro Pessanha, a pointillism specialist, Paulista artist Luana Diphusa and Carioca cartoonist and tattoo artist Diego Sanchez.

The bazaar will sell clothes, shoes and accessories for a range of ages and styles, with pieces from well-known brands to smaller, alternative designers. Meanwhile art will be on display in the gallery from artists including Bendita Gambiarra, Eduardo Denne and Paula Villa Nova.

The event will also celebrate female artistic diversity with a show mixing music and cinema, starting from 8PM. For this edition of the event, Brazilian musical classic Ópera do Malandro’ will play, accompanied by a live performance of the soundtrack from singer Landa Mendonça.

Local designers Antonio Breves, recycled furniture specialise David Rezende and jewellery-maker Luiza Diniz will have stalls at the event to showcase their work. Pieces from textile designer and owner of Comigo Ninguém Pode, Neyla Durães Quaresma, will also be at the event.

Additionally, there will be food and drink on offer to visitors, with double dose caipirinhas until midnight and a range of pizzas, wraps, snacks and beers available from Olho da Rua’s bistro.

Olho da Rua is a non-profit space for figures involved in art and culture to meet, exchange ideas and collaborate. The space is located on Rua Bambina in Botafogo and has a gallery, atelier and a bistro and holds regular workshops on a range of activities and ideas on the second floor.
