RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Beginning at midday on Saturday, February 4th in Niterói’s Praça Nilo Peçanha, ‘Festival de Verão Cervejeiro’ (Summer Beer Festival) will offer a variety of locally brewed beers to visitors on the other side of Guanabara Bay.
The festival, which is free entry, will run until 10PM on Saturday and will also run between the same hours on Sunday, February 5th.
Organized by creative collective Circuito das Artes Niterói, the event will have food trucks, local art and fashion vendors, and live entertainment in addition to craft beers. Among the confirmed breweries are Cervejaria da Corte, Rota 104, Olivier Wine & Beer, Nikit Beer and Noi.
Although the event’s focus is on local craft beers, food will be available from a host of different food trucks and bikes. Jaqueira Burguer food truck will provide locally-made beef burgers, while sweet treats will be on offer from macaroon specialist Déli Delicia, Marshmallow Gourmet and Deuses e Brigadeiros.
Bookbinder Empório da Luz, accessory brand Com Amor and children’s clothing maker Mãe Q’Inova are among the local entrepreneurs who will also have stalls at the Niterói-based event. Entertainment for children will also be provided.
Some of the names listed to perform on Saturday are Bloco Olodum Maré and Renato França of The Blues Project, while Rafaela Torres, Filhos da Pátria Rock and The Dormants will perform on Sunday. Belly dancing teacher Jammy Said will offer a workshop on Sunday, and there will also be DJs playing at various points throughout the weekend.
