To record the sounds featured in “Errância,” Romano attached mics on both bodies and bikes and wandered the streets of Rio de Janeiro at night. He traveled to bars in the neighborhoods of Lapa, Praça Tiradentes in Centro, Rocinha, Gávea and Leblon. Added to the natural sounds of the city there are recordings of spoken text/narrations written by Romano.

Romano is a doctoral candidate in Visual Languages and an assistant professor of sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

“Errância” will be the tenth and final work displayed as part of the Prêmio CCBB Contemporâneo (CCBB Contemporary Award) 2015 – 2016 exhibition series.

The series began in June of last year with a sound installation by Chelpa Ferro. Exhibitions of works by Fernando Limberger, Vicente de Mello, Jaime Lauriano, and Carla Chaim followed.

Since the beginning of 2016, the space has housed the exhibitions and installations of Ricardo Villa, Flávia Bertinato, Alan Borges, and Ana Hupe.

The ten projects of the series were chosen from among 1,823 entries made from across the country.

The opening event for “Errância” will take place on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:30 PM. The exhibition will then be open to the public from June 29th through August 1st.
