By Jay Forte, Contributing Reporter

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tomorrow, on Thursday, June 9th, The Rio Times is hosting their “TALKS” speaker event, bringing together a panel of experts in three areas regarding the Rio 2016 Olympics; organization, tourism and immigration issues (visas). Crucial to the success of any event is location, location, location, and DOCA co-working space in Ipanema is a perfect venue for the format and international crowd.

The space is located conveniently at Rua Barão da Torre 219 in Ipanema, just across the street from the Gringo Cafe, and offers a common space that seats 24 flexible work-stations, 76 fixed work-stations, and nine private office rooms. A couched lounge area and outside garden space facing a full kitchen round out the amenities, all of course fully wired with dependable WIFI internet access.

Julia Gostkorzewicz, a partner at DOCA, shares their focus DOCA has on the Olympics. “We have several co-workers working on projects for the Olympics and we make a significant effort to introduce our clients to each other and explore the potential of powerful partnerships. We will also offer special pricing plans for those who want to work here only during the Olympics.”

She adds some definition to who co-working spaces are best suited to. “The co-working business model is already perfect for individuals or small teams because of the short term pricing options we offer, as well as the opportunity to work with all kinds of different people as both consumer and service provider.”

Stone Korshak, editor and publisher of The Rio Times shares, “The last TALKS event we held was at a restaurant and we felt the layout and acoustics did not due the speaker-format justice, so we started looking for other options and a co-working space seemed like a good fit. Once we got a look at DOCA we know it was perfect – modern, functional yet sophisticated, and in the heart of Ipanema.”

Gostkorzewicz highlights, “DOCA is located in the best neighborhood possible, Ipanema. We are equal distance from Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and Ipanema beach. We are already very close to the subway and by the time the Olympic Games start we will have an even closer station. We have several Bike Rio stations, hotels and hostels nearby as well. So given our great location, we already have many frequent foreign visitors.”

In terms of the TALKS event, Gostkorzewicz explains, “With The Rio Times TALKS we hope to become the ultimate co-working space for ‘workations’ in Rio, become known as a perfect place for informal gatherings and talks and, most of all, to give our coworkers the opportunity to network with each other and make new professional connections.”

The three speakers are Phil Wilkinson from Rio 2016, Roshni Thakker from XperienceRio and Michael Royster, an American who has a Brazilian lawyer since 1992. The latest addition to the line-up, thanks to Brazil 101: Comedy for Gringos, is the amazing opportunity to have Fernando Caruso, a famous Brazilian comedian and actor, as the host and emcee.

Other newly announced sponsors and partners are snacks by Blue Agave and La Rica, and drinks by Fine Wines and Rekorderlig Cider. Another new edition to the evening is Mary Byker has signed on as DJ for this event.

Entrance to this event will be limited to fifty places, and a guaranteed seat requires pre-purchasing a ticket for R$50 online. If seating is still available on the night of the event, entrance will be R$80 (cash only).
