Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s Cinco de Mayo and several bars and restaurants in the city will celebrate Mexican pride and heritage tonight.
Beginning at 4PM, the Blue Agave in Ipanema will host the Blue Agave Fiesta, with live music plus food and drink specials.
At Blue Agave’s Copacabana location, in addition to a special Cinco de Maio menu, guests will also be offered free jello shots to commemorate the day.
In Leblon, Mexican resturant La Calaca will host the Festa do dia 5 de Maio on May 5th from 5PM to 1AM. During that event, there will be margaritas, two-for-one specials on Sol beer, and specials on totopos and guacamole for R$15. Addtionally, DJ Fábio Flyer will spin the best of deep house.
Popular Mexican restaurant Azteka on Ipanema’s Rua Visconde de Pirajá will offer a “special Mexican burger, with avocados, jalapeños, corn chips with chipotle sour cream, and green salad.” Additionally, customers joining in the festivities can also take advantage of special promotions, such as two-for-one margaritas from 5PM to 10PM and a free dessert for every fifth customer.
The Lapa Irish Pub will celebrate the holiday will special promotions and DJ Pedro Dee Jay spinning the best of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
