Jingle Bell Rock

Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time to celebrate Christmas early tonight at Casa da Matriz in Botafogo.

The venue will host the Jingle Bell Rock party and in addition to the best of indie, rock and pop the party will include traditional foods and drinks like panetone, rabanada, and sparkling wine.

DJs Ronney Assad and Rodrigues will spin during the night and gifts will be distributed to the first sixty people to arrive at the party.

Meteoro and Cudars/Draksler(Botafogo)
Tonight Meteoro and Cudars/Draksler will peform live at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. Meteoro is known for sound experimentation with voices, acoustic intruments and electronic device and the duo of Cudars/Draksler, founded in Amsterdam in 2013, are known for their original compositions and free improvisations.

Pub Crawl Ipanema (Ipanema)
Every Tuesday night Bem Brasil Entretenimento is presenting the Pub Crawl Ipanema, a tour of Rio Nightlife. Beginning at Belmonte Bar in Ipanema (Rua Teixeira de Melo, 53) at 7:20 PM, the tour includes stops at three bars and will end at the Miroir club, which is now hosting the Bem Brasil -The Rio Hostels Party on Tuesdays (see below.) The entry fee to Miroir is included with the Pub Crawl price and there will be free caipirinhas in the club until 12AM as part of the party. Additionally, there will be three free shots and a drinking game, during the tour. No booking prior to the tour is needed and the tour happens rain or shine. Attendees must be eighteen and over, so make sure to bring a photo ID.

Dobradinha (Copacabana)
The Dobradinha party returns to Fosfobox in Copacabana tonight for its second edition of the summer season. During the night, the Dobradinha DJs will spin the best of rock, pop, techno, funk, axé, and more. Promotions will include two-for-one Jägermeister until 1AM and two-for-one Hi-Fi all night. There will also be free pizza in line and twins pay only one entry fee.

Bem Brasil – The Rio Hostels Party (Ipanema)
The Bem Brasil party will once again take place at Miroir in Ipanema tonight. It will include live samba from the band Pretensão and DJs Luciano Hoffer and Haron Dufau spinning the best of hip hop, Latin rhythms, reggaeton, cumbia, and kuduro throughout the night. Additionally, promotions will include free caipirinhas from 11PM until midnight.

Feel Leblon (Leblon)
The weekly Feel Leblon party is back at Sette Leblon bar and lounge tonight. Promotions include all you can drink caipirinhas until midnight and two for one beers for R$15 all night long. During the event, DJs Jonatan K and ES$ will spin the best of electronica, trap, house, indie rock, funk Carioca, hip hop, reggeaton, and samba. Entry fee is free for women until 12:30 AM.

Késia Estácio (Lapa)
Tonight singer Késia Estácio returns to perform live at Carioca da Gema in Lapa. Estácio cites influences including Elis Regina, Djavan, and Chico Buarque, among others, and tonight she will perform the best of MPB, samba, soul and pop. During the show she will be accompanied by bassist Rodrigo Villa, guitarist Gabriel de Aquino, percussionist Thiago da Serrinha, and drummer André Manhães.

Folakemi Quintet (Lapa)
On Tuesdays in December, the Leviano Bar will host the Folakemi Quintet. Folakemi is a British singer known for her covers of Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse, among others. During this season of shows, she will once again perform the best of jazz, nu jazz, blues, funk, and soul with the quintet. Additionally on Tuesday nights this month, DJ Sandro Black will spin the best of Fela Kuti, Miles Davis, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, and Amy Winehouse among others.

Turma do Estácio and Jorginho do Imperio (Centro)
Jorginho do Imperio will return to start the night at Rio Scenarium tonight at 7:30PM with the best of samba and carnival sambas enredos. The group Turma do Estácio will follow at 11PM with more lively samba.

On Tuesdays in December Trapiche Gamboa is hosting the Trapicheando project with Rafael dos Santos, Pipa Vieira, Roberto Moreno, Jorge Alexandre and Tiago Misamply performing live.

Language Exchange – Lapa Irish Pub (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa Irish Pub, it’s time again for the Portuguese/English Language Exchange. Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for five minutes followed by Portuguese for five minutes. After those ten minutes, each speaker will move on to a new table and conversation partner. It’s both a fun and educational night and the R$10 entrance cost includes free food. Following the Language Exchange, Bruno Costas will perform live.

Lord Jim’s Pub (Ipanema)
Lord Jim’s Pub is the oldest pub in Rio and its well known for live music and promotional specials. During Happy Hours (6PM to 8PM) on Mondays through Fridays, the pub offers two for one draft beer. This is also a great place to watch live sports.

With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Happy Hour is dose dupla (two for one) on Mondays through Fridays 6PM-8PM. Additionally, tacos are half-price on Tuesdays. This is another great place to watch live streaming sports.
