Online Ticket Sales Opened for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tickets are currently available online for the upcoming 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The events, which feature disabled and impaired athletes, will take place on September 7th through the 18th next year in the city following the 2016 Olympics Games which will take place from August 5th through the 21st.

Ranging in price from R$10 to R$130, tickets are onsale for the twenty-two sporting events and ceremonies of the Paralympic Games including the opening and closing ceremonies.

Tickets for the sports of boccia, wheelchair fencing, goalball, marathon, table tennis, tennis in a wheelchair, archery, weightlifting, road cycling and sailing start at R$10.

The tickets for the wheelchair basketball final ranges from R$90 to R$130 and tickets for the Athletics event ranging from R$70 to R$110. Ticket prices for the opening and closing ceremonies range from R$100 to R$1,200.

Both the opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the famed Maracana Stadium. Sixteen additional venues located in and around Copacabana, Deodoro, Maracanã, and Barra da Tijuca will host the sporting events during the games. Two new sports, canoeing and the paratriathlon, will be introduced to the Paralympic Games in 2016.

The testing event for boccia was held earlier this year in November and the tests for wheelchair ruby and basketball will take place on February 26th through the 28th. Additionally, testing for the Athletic Paralimpics will take place on May 18th through the 21st.
