paradagaySunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Today the 20th edtion of the the Parada do Orgulho LGBT Rio (Rio Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender/LGBT Pride Parade) will take place in Copacabana.

The parade will begin at 1PM with marchers gathering at Posto 6 (Posto 6) on Copacabana beach. In addition to the marchers, the parade will include five trios elétricos (large flatbed trucks with massive sound systems). At 2PM the first trio elétrico will become a stage hosting a show with Lorna Washington and Magaly.

Additionally the ‘Ação, Orgulho e Cidadania’ (Action, Pride and Citizenship) section of the event will open at 9AM. The section will include stands and workers providing information about ongoing issues faced by the LGBT community and services including hepatitis B vaccinations, HIV tests, and the distribution of more than forty thousand free condoms during the day.

Jazz no Morro (Cantagalo)
Today and tonight, the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo. Drummer Guga Pellicciotti will perform live and DJ João Santiago will spin during show intervals.

Rio Gay Parade Pride (Copacabana)
Thousands of marchers will make their way down Avenida Atlântica as the 20th edition of the the the Parada do Orgulho LGBT Rio (Rio Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender/LGBT Pride Parade) takes place in Copacabana today.
Fundição Progresso – ‘Ação, Orgulho e Cidadania’ (Action, Pride and Citizenship) section opens at 9AM and the marchers will assemble to parade begining at 1PM.
Posto 6 (Posto 6) on Copacabana beach.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs Jessica Guarisch and Babi will start the party around 5PM by spinning on the deck until midnight and DJs Dri Toscano and Tati Brescia will spin inside beginning at 10PM continuing throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.

It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

The Arpex Party returns to Barzin Bar and Restaurant in Ipanema tonight with DJ Daniel Faria spinning funk, house, hip hop and reggaeton and saxophonist Marcelo Cebukin performing live. Additionally, caipivodkas will be free until 12AM.

With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Every Sunday, promotions include two for one Sol beer, caipirinha and caipivodka. Pizza Pub is also only R$10.
