wobbleSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s the eve of Brazilian Independence Day, so that means many of the city’s venues will host events tonight.

In Copacabana, the Fosfobox club will host a special edition of the popular Wobble party with very special guest Portuguese music producer, Branko of Buraka Som Sistema.

Fresh off the release of his debut solo album, Atlas, Branko will join the Wobble party tonight as a stop on his ongoing Club Atlas World Tour.

Released on the Enchufada label and available in all major digital stories as of September 4th, Atlas, includes the songs “Eventually (feat. Alex Rita & Bison),” “Let Me Go (feat. Nonku Phiri & Mr. Carmack)” and “Take Off” (feat. Princess Nokia).

In additional to Branko and the Wobble Crew, with Rodrigo S., Marginal Men, and Fabio Heinz, will welcome Scratcha DVA from the UK, Cybass and Swinga on Sunday night.

Jazz no Morro (Cantagalo)
Today and tonight, the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo. Guga Pellicciotti will perform live and DJ João Santiago will spin the best of Brazilian rhythms, dance and rock during show intervals.

Baile do Almeidinha with Hamilton de Holanda and guests (Lapa)
The Baile do Almeidinha event will return to Circo Voador with Hamilton de Holanda welcoming Carlos Malta, Marcos Suzano and Alfredo Del-penho tonight. Paideguará will open.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs Fabiano Moreira and Richard L will start the party around 5PM by spinning on the deck and DJs Valvet, Dri Toscano, and Pedro Massucatti will follow, spinning inside throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Wobble with Branko (Copacabana)
Tonight the Wobble party returns to Fosfobox in Copacabana with special guest Scratcha DVA, Cybass, and Swinga joining the Wobble Crew with Rodrigo S., Marginal Men, and Fabio Heinz. Branko, known for his work with Burka Som Sistema, recently released his first solo album.

Sunda Tracks (Botafogo)
The Botafogo club, Casa da Matriz will host a special edition of the Sundae Tracks party tonight. During the event, DJ Melvin will spin on the first floor and DJs Sal and Felipe Fortes will spin on the second floor for the Videogame party. Promotions will include two-for-one specials on caipirinha, caipivodka, Cuba Libre, and mojito until 1AM.

La Paz (Centro)
Tonight La Paz in Centro will host the Bear Nation party, Independencia do Barbados (Beards Independence) edition. DJs Thiago Amorim, Fabiano Penna, and Valdo S. will spin. Additionally during the night, Ber Black, Ursula mon amour, and Ravena Creole will spin on the second stage for the LipSync party.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 6PM the venue plays live games on their screens with a live performance following the matches. Tonight the group Samba Di Buteco will play classic samba including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.

Rogê (Lapa)
It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

Rio Scenarium will host a special edition tonight with singer and guitarist Daniel Rolim starting the night at 8PM. Empolga ás 9 will follow at 11PM with the best of funk, forró, frevo, and pop.

Arpex Party (Ipanema)
The Arpex Party returns to Barzin Bar and Restaurant in Ipanema tonight with DJ Daniel Faria spinning funk, house, hip hop and reggaeton and saxophonist Marcelo Cebukin performing live. Additionally caipivodkas will be free until 12AM.

It’s time for the best of indie rock and indie pop tonight as Saloon 79 in Botafogo presents the Juvenilia party. Lê Almeida and Transfusão will launch the new album, Paraleloplasmos and DJs Guilherme Almeida, Vinicius Leal, and Gordinho will spin. Additionally, the psychedelic and psychoactive collages of Augusto Malbouisson will be on display during the event.

OMG Lounge (Leblon)
