Anna Whyte of AmSoc Rio explains, “The goal is to provide a fun social event where our members can gather, and those from out-of-town or new to Rio and interested to join Amsoc, can come and meet at a central, safe location. Everyone speaks English, is friendly and welcoming, with lots of good tips from personal experiences, for having fun in Rio.”

The event will include special offers, such as two for one caipirinhas and R$5 longneck beers for members of the American Society in Rio. With this gathering, Gringo Café continues a tradition of events that are aimed at bringing together members of Rio’s expatriate community.

Sam Flowers, the founder and owner of Gringo Café, said that he looks forward to having an event with the American Society. “We always look forward to our events with the American Society. The American Society events at Gringo Cafe attract not only Americans buy many Brazilians with a strong connection to the United States.”

Adding, “Many Brazilians have lived or studied in the U.S. and the American Society Events offer a great way to maintain their connection. We love bringing together Gringos with locals in these events and we see Gringo Cafe as a great place for American and other cultures to integrate.”

With a menu that provides delicious American-style diner fair, including classic hamburgers, hotdogs, mac & cheese and the highly recommended BBQ ribs, the restaurant has been an attractive meeting point. In the past, the establishment has co-hosted Gringo Group Therapy Sessions, Happy Hours with Democrats Abroad of Brazil, the Expats and English Speakers Meetup Group, Casa do Caminho Language Center, the Rio Rugby Club, and the International Club of Rio (InC).
