Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The Honk Rio 2015 festival arrives in Rio de Janeiro tonight. Running for four days in various locations throughout the city, the free event is one of the major international brass band festivals.
Tonight’s shows will take place in Praça XV beginning at 5PM. Performing in order from start to close will be Mission Delirium, RIM BAM BUM, Fanfarrada, Bagunço Móvel, Ataque Brasil, Ôncalo, Orquestra Voadora, Fanfarra Black Clube, Sinfônica Ambulante, Damas de Ferro, Os Siderais, and Environmental Encroachment.
Known its focus on street performances and brass bands, the Honk festival originated in Boston, Massachusetts, United States and has taken place in New York; Providence, Rhode Island; Austin, Texas; and internationally in Australia, among other locations. This will be the first time the festival is held in Brazil.

Danil Limaverde and Antonio Hofmeister will present the audiovisual performance, “01 +01 = 01,” at Oi Futuro Ipanema tonight to open the 2015 edition of Live Cinema. The free event will feature the duo video mapping the exterior of Oi Futuro Ipanema to live musical accompaniment.
