Last Week of FotoRio Offers Guided Visit and Catalog

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In the last week of the 2015 FotoRio photography exposition, which runs until Sunday, July 26th, organizers offer a guided visit with curator Milton Guran and some of the photographers on Wednesday, July 22nd and launch a catalog of the exposition with a selection of 62 photos.

The 2015 FotoRio exposition shows photography from Brazilian and international photographers and hosted six photography exhibitions this year at the Centro Cultural Correios in Rio’s Centro. Entrance to the exposition is free of charge.

To celebrate the last week of the exposition, which will only run until Sunday, July 26th, organizers will launch a catalog of the best photographs of the six different expositions. The launch of the catalog will be accompanied by a guided visit with curator of the exposition Milton Guran and some of the photographers, who will comment on their work. The launch and visit will take place on Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:30 PM.

The six photography exhibitions include; photographs by photojournalist Ana Carolina Fernandes, a thirty-year veteran in her field; pictures by Zeca Linhares, who has being shooting images of Carnival celebrations for over forty years; and “Gente do Rio” (People of Rio), an exhibition by photographer Alécio de Andrade, which features portraits of Rio artists and intellectuals including Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Manuel Bandeira, Marques Rebelo, Oscar Niemeyer, and Vinícius de Moraes, among others.

As well as, “Passinho de Angola” (Passinho of Angola) with photographs by Maria Buzanovsky of the capoeira event, Roda do Cais do Valongo, and of the passinho or “little step” dance events that take place throughout the city, while the “#MinhaJanelaMinha” exhibition will feature images taken by photographer Ana Rodrigues from her window during the course of a year. Finally, the collective exhibition “Na Palma da Mão” (In the Palm) with feature images curated by Julieta Roitman of mobile phone users around the city.
