kaWednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The weekly Karaokê Indie party at Casa da Matriz will celebrate its 200th edition tonight with eight hours of singing from 9PM to 5AM on the first floor and twelve DJs will spin back-to-back sets on the second floor throughout the night.

DJs Chacal and Pilar Garcez will spin indie rock. Mamede and Arlei Hey Hey will spin classic rock. Dea Mafer and Suirá will spin the best of hits and pop. Speedy and Brandão will spin the best of 80s and 90s. Kleber Tuma and Ivy will spin metal and industrial and Hannickel and Abrahin will spin the best of electronic.

Promotions during the night will include two for one specials on five drinks: caipirinha, caipivodka, Hi-fi, Cuba Libre, and mojito. There will also be two hundred Kidoguinhos distributed to those waiting to enter and a very special giant cake inside to celebrate the edition.

Copa Funk Party (Copacabana)
The Copa Funk Party is back at Copacabana’s Fosfobox tonight with DJs spinning the best of funk, hip-hop, and Latin rhythms. Event promotions include unlimited caipifrutas from 11PM to 12AM.

Karaokê Indie #200 (Botafogo)
The popular weekly Karaokê Indie party at Casa da Matriz celebrates its 200th edition tonight with eight hours of singing, twelve DJs spinning back-to-back sets, and a giant cake.

Lu Fogaça and Trio (Gamboa)
Tonight at Trapiche Gamboa it’s time for a roda de samba with Brazilian singer-songwriter Lu Fogaça and his trio. The group will blend modern music with samba, forró and MPB. They are well known for their reinterpretations of works by João Nogueira, João Bosco, Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes, Chico Buarque and Luiz Melodia, among others.

Mulato Velho and Thiagu Gentil (Centro)
At 7:30PM, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Thiagu Gentil will start off the night at Rio Scenarium by performing samba, bossa nova and groove songs from his debut album. The group Mulato Velho will follow at 10:30PM with the best of Brazilian music.

Marcelle Motta and Cristina Bhering (Lapa)
Singer and guitarist Cristina Bhering will start things off tonight at 7:30PM at Carioca da Gema and singer Marcelle Motta will follow at 9:30PM with her diverse repertoire.

Baile Da Tchuguderia (Lapa)
On Wednesday nights in April, the Baile Da Tchuguderia party at Lapa’s Leviano bar is celebrating new music in Rio. Every week Angelo B, Udi Fagundes and Cláudio Costa, of the band Gabriel Pensador, will play live and welcome a special guest. DJ Chicote will also spin during the night.

The TANDEM Language exchange will take place at Blue Agave Copa tonight. The event involves language learning through conversations between speakers of different languages seated at various tables. The languages include Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, and German. There will also be moderators on hand to help to catch mistakes.

With Neapolitan-style gourmet pizza finished off with unique toppings, Ferro e Farinha in Catete is a great place to drop in before heading out for a night on the town.
