Saturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time for the best of funk, both classic and modern Rio style, tonight at CAVE in Arpoador as the venue hosts both the Brazilian Wax and the Funk The Chic parties.
Direct from Curitiba, special guest DJ Schasko will spin for first time in Cave. He will bring a special set with nufunk, disco, soul, broken beats, hip-hop, bootlegs and the best of old school.
Additionally, during the night DJs Pedro Piu, Dani Souto and Joca Vidal will spin.

Brazilian MPB singer Jorge Ben Jor returns to Circo Voador tonight to perform the second of his back-to-back shows this weekend. Again he will be accompanied by the Zé Pretinho band and DJ Marcelo Callado will spin before and after the show.

The free street parties known as blocos are still going strong, even though Carnival is over. More than a dozen are scheduled to take place across the city today. One of the most notable is the bloco Mulheres de Chico which will take place in Leme. They will assemble at 5PM near Praia do Leme and parade unitl 8PM. Earlier in the day, Bloco Quizomba will parade in Lapa. They will assemble at R. Riachuelo 7 at 11AM and parade until 3PM. In Ipanema, bloco Bafafá will assemble at Praia de Ipanema (near Posto 9) at 5PM and then parade until 9PM.
It is important to note that meet-up points and locations of the bloco parades are subject to change.

Botafogo’s Casa da Matriz will host the Keep on Rockin’ party. On the first floor, DJs Arlei Hey Hey, Vitor Dill, and Igor Boechat will spin rock, indie pop and alternative with VJ C. Lobo providing visuals. Meanwhile on the second floor, DJs Matheus Marins and Polly will spin “no indie”. Tonight Teatro Odisseia will host the Neverland party, Smurnoff edition. That’s right “Smurnoff,” meaning it’s time to celebrate both the Smurfs and vodka.
