Roda de Samba da Pedra do SalMonday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – If you are looking for an authentic roda de samba experience in Rio, Pedra do Sal is considered to be one of the best anywhere in the city.

A weekly Monday night live music party, the event has taken place in the same location of the Gamboa area in Centro for years. A wide variety of percussionists, musicians, dancers, samba lovers and all-round party goers is known to flock to the outdoor party every week.

Located on Pedra do Sal, on a huge, smooth rock, the area becomes a makeshift dancefloor with veterans and newcomers alike dancing the night away as the event progresses.

Pista 3 (Botafogo)
It’s time for the best of electro rock and indie as the Pista 3 party returns to Casa Matriz in Botafogo tonight. Also during the night on the second floor, the Festa Indie Club will take place with DJs Bruno and Thiago Burgos spinning the best of indie.

Digital Dubs (Lapa)
Tonight Digital Dubs and friends return to Lapa’s Leviano Bar. The band Muzamba All Stars will get things started on the first floor with reggae, ska and rocksteady. Then Radiola Visto Rasta will play the best of reggae roots and dub. Additionally during the night, Digital Dubs will perform on the second floor with special guests.

Rio Boat Club (Marina da Glória)
A two-story boat turns into a nightclub complete with top DJs and a happy hour with two for one drinks for men and free drinks for women before midnight. Once the cruise starts, there are some amazing views to take in as the boat travels around Guanabara Bay.

Roda de Samba Pedra do Sal (Gamboa)
Classic roda de samba with an emphasis on the music’s African roots is back at Pedra do Sal in the Gamboa area of Centro tonight. The weekly event is considered by many to be one of the most authentic rodas de samba in the city.

Roda de Samba with Rixxa (Lapa)
For more dancing and singing, head to Lapa’s Carioca da Gema tonight as the venue will come alive at 10PM with three hours of live samba provided by brilliant percussionists, vocalist Rixxa and members of the Zeca Pagodinho band. Inácio Rios will start off the night at 8PM.

PUBS & BARS:

Shenanigan’s Live Music (Ipanema) With live music and classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Happy Hour is dose dupla (two for one) on Mondays through Fridays 6PM-8PM. Additionally, Monday is also half-price steak night until 9PM.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
From 8PM-12AM tonight, Tony Boka is back for another lively performance at Mab’s. This American-owned beachfront restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food and drinks and Boka’s shows are known to please the crowds.
