Letter to the Editor, by Dirk Neyhart
Dear Editor,
A recent article in the New York Times says that Brazil has appointed a climate change skeptic to the post of Minister of Science. Not all legislators or scientists make good administrators but certainly a good administrator for science should have a substantial scientific background.
I hope this guy does not prove the embarrassment to the Communist Party that Lycenko was. The vast consensus in the scientific community is that global warming is a real threat to our current mode of existence and that human activity is largely responsible for that threat. If the Minister of Science is not on board, you need a new administrator.
