Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Celebrate the new year at the Veneno party tonight.
Going strong for over ten years, the weekly event, hosted by Casa da Matriz in Botafogo, is well known for starting Rio weekends early with the best of rock and pop.
Tonight will be no exception as the event will celebrate the summer season and the arrival of the new year. DJs Tulio and Beto Artista spinning pop and rock anthems on the first floor.
Additionally, on the second floor the Meninas Veneno (Poison Girls) will return to spin the best unsigned hits.

Breno Alves will kick off the live music tonight at Carioca da Gema at 8:30PM. Then, composer and singer Toninho Geraes will follow at 10:30PM. Geraes has composed for artists including Martinho da Vila and Zeca Pagodinho and during his show tonight, he will sing their hits, as well as his own compositions. Additionally, he will reinterpret the works of Moacyr Luz, Paulinho da Viola, and Chico Buarque, among others.

At 7:30PM, the group Mal de Raiz will get things started at Rio Scenarium with the sounds of samba and their reinterpreations of the works of Toninho Geraes, Noca da Portela, Mauro Diniz, Dorina, Juliana Diniz, Nelson Sargento, and Tia Surica, among others. The group Toque de Arte will follow at 10:30PM with the best of samba, including the classics
