Keziah JonesWednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight Nigerian singer-songwriter and gutarist Keziah Jones returns to Rio to perform live at Circo Voador in Lapa.

Jones was last in Rio as a performer during the Back2Black festival in November of last year. He is well known for his muscial style that blends blues, funk, and rock.

Jones has released eight studio albums. He most recent album entitled, Captain Rugged was released in in 2013.

Before Jones hits the Circo stage, André Sampaio and Os Afro Mandinga will perform to open the night.

Back II Black 11 years (Arpoador)
Tonight at the CAVE club in Arpoador, the Back II Black party will celebrate 11 years. Known for being one of the biggest parties in the Rio hip-hop scene, tonight the event will feature DJs Saddam, Pachu, Rapha Lima, Grandmaster Raphael and special guest DJ Negralha.

In.Box (Copacabana)
DJ Haron Dufau and guests will spin the best of hip-hop and house tonight at Copacabana’s Fosfobox as part of the weekly In.Box party. Arrive early for unlimited caipifrutas from 10PM-12AM and stay for two for one beers after midnight in one of Rio’s most popular clubs.

Karaokê Indie (Botafogo)
It’s time again for a special YOLO (You Only Live Once) edition of the popular Karaokê Indie night at Botafogo’s Casa da Matriz. Five hundred jello shots, in various colors, will be distributed to help brighten up your night.Two party games, “Jelloshot’n’tic tac toe” and “JaggerMasterGenuis” will also take place during the night. In “Jelloshots’n’tic tac toe,” competitors play Tic-tac-toe with jello shots on a magentic board. In “JaggerMasterGenius,” competitors will face off playing “Genius” or “Simon” as the electronic game is known in the United States. Also during the night, promotions will include two for one on five drinks: caipirinha, caipivodka, Hi-fi, Cuba Libre and Mojito. Of course there will also be lots of singing and with Casa da Matriz’s karaoke menus that include thousands of songs, there is something for everyone to sing about.

La Passion Club in Glória will host the #LET´S PARTY event tonight with DJs Nino Leal, Left 2 Right, Rodrigo Mottos and Palomma spinning the best of hip-hop and EDM. Beer, Belvedere vodka and tequila will be two for one all night long.

Baile Da Tchuguderia (Lapa)
On Wednesday nights in November, the Baile Da Tchuguderia party at Lapa’s Leviano bar is celebrating new music in Rio. Event week Angelo B, Udi Fagundes and Cláudio Costa of the band Gabriel Pensador will play live and welcome a special guest. DJ Márlio will also spin during the night. Additionally, Mondays through Thrusdays Leviano is now hosting Happy Hour from 5PM to 9PM. Promotions include a bucket of three 600ml beers (Bohemia or orignal) for R$22 and dose dupla (two for one) caipirinha for R$11.90.

Nelson Felix and Breno Alves (Lapa)
Breno Alves will start things off tonight at Lapa’s Carioca da Gema at 8PM as he performs as part of this year’s Novos Bambas contest. Then, beginning at 10PM, Nelson Felix will deliver the best of samba as he reinterprets the works of Caetano Veloso, Paulinho da Viola, and Chico Buarque, among others.

Mulato Velho & Beatriz Farias and Marcos Ariel & Tigres da Lapa (Centro)
At 7:30PM Mulato Velho and Beatriz Farias return to Rio Scenarium to present a performance that celebrates the diversity of Brazilian music. Marcos Ariel & Tigres da Lapa will follow at 10:30PM with their reinterpretations of works by Ernesto Nazareth and Tom Jobim.
