Neymar and Seleção Thrash Turkey 4×0 in Friendly

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian national team scored a clear 4×0 victory against the Turkish national side in a friendly game in Istanbul yesterday (Wednesday, November 12th). Man of the match was Neymar, who scored twice. Also entering the scoreboard was Chelsea’s Willian with a great performance, while the fourth goal was an own-goal from Turkey.

In head coach Dunga’s fifth game the Seleção showed confidence and dominated the scene. The first goal fell after only nineteen minutes and the next one only four minutes after. After that the Brazilian side was never in doubt to carry home victory and they showed off their skills with nice dribbles and precise passes.

Captain Neymar was not only cheered on by the away fans, but clearly delighted the Turkish spectators as well, who even protested a foul against him by their own side. With these two goals Neymar has reached a total of 42 goals for his national side and equaled Bebeto as 7th placed on the Brazilian all-time top scorer list. Leading the list is Pelé with 95 goals.

Strikers Roberto Firmino from German club Hoffenheim and top scorer of Ukrainian side Shakthar Donezk Luiz Adriano made their first appearances for their national team after impressing on the club level, but didn’t score. Also newly called up under Dunga were Casemiro and Douglas Costa.

On the contrary, former World Cup captain Thiago Silva, who was also a first-time call-up by the new coach, remained an unused sub. Next Tuesday Brazil will play another friendly against Austria in Vienna, the last game of 2014 for the Seleção.
