Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight, singer-songwritier and guitarist MarthaV will peform live at The Clover Irish Pub beginning at 9PM.
An accomplished musician and songwriter, MarthaV has been honing her skills as a live performer for years. She has performed at Rio venues including Circo Voador, Teatro Odisséia, and Café Teatro Solar de Botafogo, among others.
In 2007 she released a self-titled album with her own compositions and in 2012 she released an EP entitled, Vértice. Addiltionally, she appeared on Pop Rock Acústico and Tributo ao Inêdito, volumes 2 and 3.
She is well known for her strong vocals and for her unique covers of both international and national rock, indie rock and pops hits. Tonight she will be joined by Edu Mega, to perform the best of pop rock from the 80s and 90s.

At 7:30PM, trombonist Jhonson de Almeida will get things started at Rio Scenarium with music from his latest CD and his reinterpretations of classic works by Chico Buarque, João Donato, Geraldo Pereira, and Luiz Carlos da Vila, among others. Then at 10:30PM percussionist Marcelinho Moreira will follow with the sounds of samba.

It’s Portuguese/English language exchange night at the Lapa Irish Pub. Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired up with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for 5 minutes followed by Portuguese for 5 minutes. After those ten minutes, each speaker will move on to a new table and conversation partner. It’s both fun and educational and the R$10 entrance cost includes free food.
