Tuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Casa da Matriz celebrates the 100th edition of Matriz Live Sessions tonight by hosting the band Fuzzcas.
The weekly ‘Matriz Live Sessions,’ were originally one of the first musical programs held at Casa da Matriz, one of the oldest music venues in Rio, and now they are back to help bring some rock’n’roll to a somewhat inactive weeknight.
Additionally during the celebration tonight, DJs Lis Amaral and Beto Artista will spin.

At 7:30PM, composer and pianist João Roberto Kelly will get things started at Rio Scenarium with the best of MPB including his own compositions, as well as, his reinterpretations of the works of Tom Jobim, Ary Barroso, and Noel Rosa, among others. Then at 10:30PM singer-songwriter and guitarist Edu Krieger will follow with a performance including his own compositions and his covers of some of the best Brazilian music.

It’s Portuguese/English language exchange night at the Lapa Irish Pub. Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired up with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for 5 minutes followed by Portuguese for 5 minutes. After those ten minutes, each speaker will move on to a new table and conversation partner.
