Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Swedish heavy metal band, Ghost returns to Rio tonight to play live at the Méier venue, Imperator – Centro Cultural João Nogueira.
The band was last in town for the 2013 Rock in Rio festival and are currently in Brazil as part of their ongoing South American Tour 2014.
Formed in 2008, the six-member band has released two studio albums; Opus Eponymous in 2010 and Infestissumam in 2013. During November of last year, they also released an EP entitled, If You Have Ghosts.
A mysterious group, the members refer to themselves as “Nameless Ghouls” and often hide their identities while performing live by wearing robes, masks and/or skull make-up.

Wintson Mcanuff and Fixi (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa’s Circo Voador, the Jamican/Parisian duo of Wintson Mcanuff (aka Electric Dread) and Fixi will launch their most recent release entitled, A New Day. The Abayomy Afrobeat Orquestra will open followed by the group Yute Lions to round out what promises to be a great night for fans of accordions, reggae, dub and musicians that skillfully fuse genres.
