Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – British gothic rock band The Mission will play at Lapa’s Teatro Odisséia tonight, beginning at 10PM.
Since their start in 1986, the group has released nine studio albums. Founded by members of band The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission is best known for their songs “Wasteland,” “Severina,” and “Stay With Me.”
To start off the night, DJ Wagner will spin at 8PM and the band Ocaso will follow at 9PM.

Baile do Almeidinha with Hamilton de Holanda and Orquestra –Two Year Anniversary (Lapa)
Famous Brazilian mandolinist Hamilton de Holanda returns with his orchestra to Lapa’s Circo Voador to celebrate the second anniversary of the Baile do Almeidinha event. Started in 2012, Baile do Almeidinha is a reoccurring event at Circo Voador where Holanda invites fellow musicians and friends to perform with him and his orchestra.Tonight they welcome special guests Pedro Luís and Parede and will pay tribute to the music of Zé Menezes. Júlia Vargas and os Barnabés will open to start the night off and Dj Almeida will spin between shows.
