7 Day Weekend 73rd EditionSaturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick –Rio duo Marginal Men will spin the best of trap, house and dupstep tonight as the 7 Day Weekend party celebrates its 73rd edition at the popular Fosfobox club in Copacabana.

Wobble party residents DJs, the Marginal Men are well known in the Rio and São Paulo club scene. Constantly at work cranking out the freshest edits and mixes, in March they partnered with São Paulo drum and bass DJ, C.A.B.L.E., to release a new and they recently released their edit of Omulu’s “Dom Dom Dom” feauturing MC Pedrinho.

Rio DJ and producer Fl3shDisco will also spin tonight, as well as Rio DJ, N***a High as Sh**, and the 7 Day Weekend resident DJs Sal and Fernando Schlaepfer.

BMW Jazz Festival with Dave Holland/Prism and Chris Botti (Flamengo)
Tonight at Vivo Rio, British double bassist Dave Holland will play with his quartet Prism and Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti will deliver his unique blend jazz for the second night of the 2014 BMW Jazz Festival in Rio.

Yo La Tengo (Lapa)
Thanks to the help of Queremos, American indie band Yo La Tengo will play at Lapa’s Circo Voador tonight. Formed over three decades ago by the husband and team of Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley the band has released thirteen studio albums and comes to Rio in support of their latest release entitled, Fade. Bassist James McNew joined Kaplan and Hubley in the early 90s and the trio steadily built up a strong cult following while receiving critical acclaim. They are well known for changing up their set lists for live shows and for throwing in a variety of surprise covers. Rodrigo Lariu will open the night and Alexandre Matias will close after Yo La Tengo.

Blues Festival with Álamo Leal , Ceasar Logo, Pedro Strasser and Flavio Guimarães (Laranjeiras)
It’s the final night of the second edition of the Blues Festival at Bar do B in Laranjeiras and guitarist Álamo Leal will host to close things out in style. Pedro Strasser will be on drums and co-programmer of the festival Cesar Lago on bass. Special guest, Flavio Guimarães of Blues Etilicos, will join to help end the festival with a bang.

After twelve editions, the popular Malaka event is sadly calling it quits. Tonight the new up-and-coming venue Usina in Saúde will host one last over-the-top party to help send out Malaka with a bang. DJs Felipe Guga, Tucho, Bhering, Raphael Fernandes, Theo Back, Cix, Jonas Rocha and Lucas Lins will spin beginning at 11PM.

Tonight at the Lagoa venue Miroir it’s all about female DJs as Morgana will bring her deep house and tech house mixes from Goiania and Rio’s Carol Legally will throw down unique blends of techno, house and deep house.

Open Air Film Screening- Trainspotting (Glória)
Tonight at Marina da Glória, the Vivo Open Air festival continues with a screening of the 1996 British film “Trainspotting″. A screening of the short film “Três no Tri”, about soccer great Pele during the 1970 World Cup, will follow. Closing the festival for the night will be the Do Leme ao Pontal event. Gagau Dieckmann will spin MPB and Beto Giovannetti, artistic director of Miroir, will deliver the best in house music.

Felipe Oliveira Quintet (Centro)
Tonight at Centro’s Santo Scenarium the Felipe Oliveira Quintet returns to again reinterpret the works of Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Cole Porter, and Egberto Gismonti, among others. This Centro bar and restaurant is well known for presenting some of the best jazz, chorinho and samba-jazz in Rio.

Café Brasil, Adilson da Vila and a Velha Guarda Musical de Vila Isabel, and Xique-Xique (Centro)
Tonight beginning at 8PM, Café Brasil presents the best of choro and samba at Centro’s Rio Scenarium. Then at 11PM, the group Adilson da Vila and a Velha Guarda Musical de Vila Isabel will reinterpret the works of Noel Rosa, Ataulfo ​​Alves, Braguinha, Martinho da Vila, and Paulinho da Viola and some well known samba-enredos from past Rio Carnival celebrations. Finally at 2:30 AM, the group Xique-Xique will present the best of forró pé de serra.
