Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Ten-time Grammy Award-winner Bobby McFerrin kicks off the Rio de Janeiro portion of the 2014 BMW Jazz Festival tonight at Vivo Rio.
Best known for his 1988 hit song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” McFerrin is an accomplished American vocalist with multiple studio albums. Additionally, throughout his career, McFerrin has worked with a wide range of artists including; Herbie Hancock, Gal Costa, Laurie Anderson, En Vogue and Wynton Marsalis, among others.
McFerrin joins the BMW Jazz festival this year, playing shows in São Paulo, Rio, and Belo Horizonte, in support of his latest release entitled, Spirityouall.

Tonight at Lapa’s Teatro Odisséia is time for Cabaret at the house of Zé. DJs Ingrid Gründig and Roberto Cruz of Quebrando a Cena and Felipe Mar of Wallpaper will spin funk and hip hop while DJs Fernando Prado of TeKiller, Polly of the Hit Me and Stephan Maus will throw down the best in rock and pop. There will also be shots of Absolut Vodka and “Drink QC”. Additionally there will be a pole dancing contest; a contest for shortest shorts and a wet t-shirt contest.
