Circuito da Artes in Jardim Botânico: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Art galleries in Jardim Botânico will open their doors this weekend for the 17th annual Circuito das Artes do Jardim Botânico. The event, which also runs August 17th – 18th, and the 23rd – 24th, features art exhibits, workshops, lectures and musical and theater performances.

The event will draw eighty artists with over 11,000 works. Taking place in a total of 38 spaces, there will be varying art forms on display such as ceramics, fashion, jewelry, crafts, painting, watercolors and interior design.

Nine stores will be devoted to fashion for babies, adults, handbags, shoes and more. There will also be a culinary element to the circuit, nine local restaurants have created special, discounted menus for participants.

The opening ceremony of the event will take place in the School of Visual Arts in Parque Lage, with a special lecture from renowned artist, Lena Bergstein.

Today has an R$8 participation fee, which includes the use of vans that will be circulating the neighborhood to the various galleries and exhibits for participants.

The a href=”https://theriotimes.wpengine.com/brazil-news/rio-entertainment/the-fourteenth-jardim-botanico-art-circuit/” target=”_blank”>Circuito das Artes was started in 1998 by Cattia Capistrano and Gabriella Civitate in order to bring together the best of local artists in one of Rio’s most picturesque neighborhoods. The duo is still in charge of hosting the event and expect to see 20,000 participants.
