RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – American rock and pop-punk band Paramore will play Rio’s HSBC Arena on Thursday, July 25th as the first of seven shows in Brazil. Paramore, the band’s fourth studio album and first new album in more than three years, was officially released on April 5, 2013 and earned the band their first number one position on the Billboard 200 U.S. Chart. The album, which features the single “Still Into You” also reached the number one position on the Brazilian charts.

Formed in 2004 in Franklin, Tennessee, U.S., Paramore initially achieved mainstream success with their 2007 heavily emo and pop-punk influenced sophomore release, Riot!.

In 2008, Paramore’s song, “Decode,” served as the lead single for the movie “Twilight.” The song went platinum in the U.S. in 2010, having sold one million copies. It also received a 2010 Grammy Award nomination. MTV Video Music Awards for Brazil named Paramore the Best International Artist in 2008.

When it comes to live shows, frontwoman Hayley Williams is well-known for her stage presence. Although small in stature, Williams owns the stage by moving constantly and belting out Paramore’s catchy songs with her powerful vocals.

After Rio, Paramore will go on to play in Belo Horizonte on July 26th, Brasília on July 28th, São Paulo on July 30th and 31st, Curitiba on August 2nd and Porto Alegre on August 4th.
