Wednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Studio RJ is in the spotlight tonight as they bring together two forward-thinking bands at the posh venue in Arpoador. Tonight will feature the bands Maria Rúbia and Filtra.
The power trio of Maria Rúbia is known for their blend of rock and intergalactic brazuca. Formed by Peter Tambellini on guitar and vocals, Ricardo Richaid on bass and vocals and Peter Richaid on drums, the band prepares to release their debut CD.
Filtra has a varied sound of psychedelic rock, ballad, afrobeat, jazz and Brazilian music. Their sounds come to life in their newly released album Self-Island produced in partnership with Pedro Garcia (Planet Hemp, Rockz, Lobao). The band will feature their full repertoire, which promises to please those seeking an experimental Brazilian sound.
