Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – O Rappa is back at the iconic Fundicao Progresso in Lapa. O Rappa is one of the most well known bands of Brazil, featuring all styles from reggae, dub, hip hop, punk and more. With their strong political stance on subject matters of Brazil, this band has made their mark and will be performing their unique sound tonight.

Agnostic Funk + H20 (Lapa)
Agnostic Front is an American punk band who began playing hardcore punk and were thrust to the forefront of the burgeoning New York hardcore scene in the mid-1980s with their widely regarded 1984 classic “Victim in Pain” before incorporating thrash metal elements into their music. Performing with them is H20 another classic American punk band who started in 1995. Get ready to get your headbang on at Circo Voador.

O Rappa (Lapa)
The legendary group O Rappa returns to Fundicao Progresso with the package sounds of dub, reggae, rock riffs and rap, preaching critical messages that address situations in Brazil from their own perspective. Members of Rappa have fought the fight against social inequality, acting on several fronts, either in funding projects that encourage the inclusion of the young sidelined society or in recruiting players from underserved communities to join in their movement.

Bootleg (Copacabana)
Bootleg is back for another funky edition featuring Italian DJ and producer Luca Bacchetti. With releases on top labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings, Defected and many more, he will grace the decks of Rio for the first time. Also on call for the night Bed & Breakfast (Marcio Careca & Joao Paulo), Jonas Rocha & Leo Janeiro. Upstairs will be run by Renato Weiss and Marcelo Abreu.

Aleluia! (Arpoador)
DJs Gala and Yuri Almeida take over the beautiful venue of Studio RJ with the best hits from all time. The music will feature Phoenix, New Order, Arnaldo Antunes, Strokes, Nação Zumbi, Michael Jackson, Copacabana Club, Janelle Monáe, Criolo, Arctic Monkeys, Céu, Daft Punk, the B52’s and much more.

Nuth (Barra da Tijuca)
The biggest thing to hit the streets of Barra & Lagoa. Two locations with the same game plan to make sure the night never ends for those who attend. A mixture of house, hip hop, and pop, this nightclub is sure to light up the night.

Teresa Cristina (Lapa)
Singer and songwriter Teresa Cristina returns to Carioca da Gema to perform her special brand of samba with hits like “Pretinha Jóia Rara”, which was featured on the soap opera “Caminho das Índias”, from Rede Globo.

Daniel Marques (Centro)
Daniel brings a unique approach to regional rhythms, particularly frevo, maracatu and forró mixed the influences of European free jazz. With his unique way of playing the 7-string guitar, he creates a new sound with his innovative arrangements, exploring the percussive side.

Shenanigan’s Live Music (Ipanema)
Shenanigan’s is always a good choice, with live music, all the sports games and all sorts of pub games such as darts and the only pool table in Ipanema.

Mud Bug (Copacabana)
With two locations in Copacabana, Mud Bug providing a great selection of beers and a menu as well. There isn’t much missing from this American style staple. Also expect to hear live jazz, blues, MPB and rock from time to time.

This new Mexican restaurant and bar has finally opened its doors in Rio. With an exciting menu of classic Tex-Mex dishes and drinks, Si Senor may put the picante back your life. With success already in Sao Paulo, the new Leblon location is already started a buzz throughout Rio.
