Upon presentation of the passport, the cards can be acquired in Cadeca’s network of establishments throughout the country, as well as in international airports and 89 hotels. However, said Fernandez, mechanisms are being prepared to acquire them abroad.

These cards are not rechargeable, require numerical identification, and can only be used in Cuba.

At the end of their stay on the island, holders of these cards can obtain in cash at Cadeca’s airport offices the amounts available at the corresponding daily bank exchange rate and according to the availability of the currency in the entity they go to.

In the first three months of this year, some 9,500 cards designed to provide foreigners an additional option to pay for services and goods in the Cuban retail network were marketed.
